Flames on Friday destroyed this garage along West White Bear Drive, Summit Hill. The fire was deliberately set. Actually, the owner of the garage reported to authorities that he was burning the garage, but a passing motorist observed the fire and a man with a garden hose spraying water on it, so he dialed 9-1-1. The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. and apparatus from Summit Hill, Lansford and Coaldale responded, while units from Tamaqua were on stand by in Coaldale's station. Also at the scene were the Lehighton Ambulance Corps, Summit Hill Police Department, and fire police who handled traffic control.
