A garage and a car inside of it were destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon in Summit Hill.
The fire occurred in a single story, single car garage behind the residence of Jeff White, 120 E. Fell St. White said he was working on a car, went into his house, then spotted the car on fire.
Within minutes, the fire reportedly spread to the wooden structure.
Summit Hill firefighter Ronald Yuricheck, who lives three doors away, said the garage was heavily involved in fire when his wife, Tara, looked out the window and saw it. By then, the fire was already called into the Carbon County Telecommunications Center. Yuricheck ran to the scene to assure everyone was safe.
Responding were the Summit Hill, Lansford, and Coaldale Fire Departments, Lehighton Ambulance, Summit Hill Police, Summit Hill Fire Police, and a rapid intervention team (RIT) from Tamaqua.
